Happy to report that six of my pieces will be hanging in the Ithaca Murals group art show at Hair Color Art in Press Bay Court from now till December 31, 2021. We will have an opening with refreshments this Friday, November 5th from 5-8pm (during Gallery Night). I am looking forward to meeting some fellow artists who have done murals around town. The Ithaca Murals coloring book will have it's debut there. Also, all but one of my paintings are for sale, so if your Christmas gifts are stuck in the supply chain....
I was excited to hear today that one of my portraits has been included in the Camelback Gallery Portraits show. I believe it can be viewed for the next three months on their site and will be published in Art Week and Art Base publications. I really enjoyed some of the other portraits chosen and I hope you'll get a chance to take a peek before it's down.
The Sciencenter held the mini-mural unveiling event today. It was a beautiful sunny day and some really inspired work on display. I hope you'll be able to stop by and take a look. I want to give a big shout out to Caleb Thomas of Ithaca Murals and Ms. Phoebe Brown for connecting me with the children you see featured in my mural. More than anything, I was so delighted to hear that they were pleased with the way the mural came out, after all, they live in the neighborhood and will have to see their faces on the wall for some time.
Uplifted Ithaca created this lovely video of the unveiling. I recently participated in a fundraiser to support a local soup kitchen. Donors who pledged $25 or more got a portrait sketch by a local artist. Here are some of the sketches that I did. This was a great experience and raised over $1000 dollars for the soup kitchen. I hope this will become an annual event.
Here is my interview with Caleb Thomas of Ithaca Murals. Make sure to check them out on Instagram at @ithacamurals to find out about all the great murals located in Ithaca.
Today I was interviewed by Caleb Thomas of Ithaca Murals. Caleb is very dedicated to promoting local artists and public art projects. Ithaca Murals prints a map of all the murals available to the public in Ithaca and my Sciencenter mural will be included in next year's print! To find out more about Ithaca Murals you can check them out at IthacaMurals.com and you'll be able to watch a video of our interview on their Instagram account some time in fall of 2017.
I am thrilled to have been chosen to do a mural for the local children science museum. As a biologist and a mom of small kids, I am particularly excited about this venue. The mural will cover all the area seen in blue above and will depict a Maine coast scene, starting with a beach on the right and heading underwater on the left. The mural will accentuate the touch tank and submarine exhibits in the room. Below are the before and 'during' picture of the progress so far. Currently working on the millions of pebbles on this pebble beach.
